What are the 7 Stages of Game Development?

Are you curious about how games are made? This article describes the steps involved in creating a video game, focusing on the "pipeline," a phrase used in the industry to describe the process of starting from scratch.

The Seven Stages of Game Development Are the Following:

Rough drafting

The very first step of creating a game is rough drafting, which means coming up with an idea and drawing a storyboard of how the game will flow. Creating this storyboard is the game designer's job, and they need to think about all the gameplay mechanics, rules, resources, etc. The storyline also needs to be fleshed out at this point as well as any dialogue or cutscenes that might be in there too.

After all, these things have been considered and any necessary research completed, designers then present their ideas to their team where they receive feedback on what works and what doesn't work in their design.

Building the game

The second step of creating a game is building the game. For this, designers often work on the areas that aren't visible to the public in an attempt to make them look better, as well as create game mechanics that are thought out and ready to be debugged.

During this process, designers will also go through revisions on their work and might even prototype new ideas. After this step is completed, they will send their ideas over to the programmers who are then responsible for implementing it all by coding it into a functioning engine.

Testing

At this point in development, all those pesky bugs that got through testing during the previous steps can now be fixed by programmers and other developers who have been drafted to assist in debugging the final product. The testers are responsible for checking if the programming is done right, as well as playing through the game and testing it out to see if there are any bugs.

They have to do this by setting up and playing through the game with time limits or while they have certain restrictions in place.

Publish

At this stage, everything from step 3 has been fixed and will be ready for release. This includes the final bug fixes that were requested, as well as all of the programs which should run smoothly now. Once this stage is completed, the game can now be sent over to testing again to check their changes and make sure everything is working properly once more.

Gamestop

This is the final stage of development, where all the bugs that have been found and fixed during the testing process can be sent over to Gamestop for them to manually print off and then submit for final approval.

Release

Once the release date is set, the game is ready to be distributed to retail stores and other online distribution outlets as well. At this point, marketing and advertising should already have taken place with this being the first time the game has made it mainstream in the eyes of many people.

Anyone can now buy a copy of your game, play it once and enjoy it for free! If they like it, they will tell all their friends about how much they love your game and ask for a copy! Everyone will then rush out to get one before they are sold out.

After Release

The game is finally released and is enjoyed by millions of people across the globe!! The game becomes a huge hit and makes crazy amounts of money! You become a mega-famous game designer! Everyone cherishes your work and talks about it for years to come.

What are the Basic Principles of Animation?

Animation does not have any proper rules that can be stated as right or wrong. There is no quantified rule for the right way of animation, but with the passing of time, we have made a few basic principles that we follow while doing animation. Today in this article we will be discussing all the principles of animation. Although, the principles were first introduced to the world by the animator's named Ollie Johnson and Frank Thomas in the book named “ The Illusion of Life: Disney Animation”, which was first released in the year 1981 but from the 1930s this book was approached down for the basic principles of animation.  Here in this article, we will be discussing all the basic principles which we need to follow while doing animation:

SIX BASIC PRINCIPLES OF ANIMATION

To create a successful animation these principles are very important. So here are the six basic principles that are required to create an animation:

The Squash and Stretch Technique

The first and one of the most important of the 12 principles of animation. This technique gives an illusion to the animated characters or the objects flexibility, weight, gravity, and mass. Imagine a rubber ball bouncing into the air,

What will the rubber ball do? At first, it will travel up and while moving down it squishes as the ball hits the ground. While using this “Squash and Stretch” technique, you will have to keep in mind that the object’s volume should be consistent. So when an individual stretches an object it needs to get thinner and while one squashes something it needs to get wider.

Anticipation:

This technique helps to prepare the viewers for what is to happen. While applying the technique gives an effect of creating the action in a more realistic way. Think about a situation where you are to jump high up in the air without even bending your knees, although it is not even possible to jump high up without bending our knees. Anyways, coming back to the point the movements while doing the animation without the help of this technique “ Anticipation” will make a character’s motion really awkward, stale, and very lifeless.

Staging:

It is a kind of artwork. It guides the eyes of the viewer and moves the attention toward the object which is important in the scene, it keeps the focus on the important aspects of the scene and it also balances the motion by keeping the non-important part to a minimum.

Straight ahead action along with pose to pose

these are two different techniques, they are often combined as they go hand in hand. Straight ahead action goes with drawing a character or an object frame by frame from start till finish. This technique involves a realistic movement. On the other hand in the “pose to pose” technique an animator has to draw a starting frame and an ending frame while in the middle there will be quite a few keyframes. Then the animator has to go back and finish the rest of the frames. This technique is very helpful to the animators as it gives more control within the scene and it also allows one to lift up the dramatic effect of the motion.

Arcs

Most of the objects which are used in animation follow the path of arc when a character or an object is moving around and that particular thing should reflect that arc as well. For instance, while tossing the ball up into the air, that will follow the natural arc as it normally affects the earth’s gravity to act upon it. These techniques are the fundamentals of animation. Reputed institutions those who are offering animation courses in Kolkata; are making their students efficient in animation with these techniques and with a holistic curriculum.

Exaggeration

Sometimes animation should be unrealistic, too much realism can ruin the animation process. Hence, some exaggeration of the characters and objects is required to make them more dynamic. This technique is used so that the animation can pop.

Nearly 40 years later, many of these fundamental concepts are still applied in classrooms and studios all around the world. While new and varied ideas have been included in animation as technology and other industries have developed; the fundamentals are still present in modern films and web design. Learn uses of animation in different sectors.

If you've heard the word, you might be wondering what UX/UI design is. What does that mean, exactly? Before we get into the fact of what exactly a job of a UI/UX designer is or what does a UI/UX designer do, we should give a glance at what is UI/UX designing? So without wasting much time let’s jump into the article.

What is UX design?

The term "UX" refers to the user's experience. A UX designer's goal is to provide a simple, uncomplicated, well-thought-out, and generally enjoyable experience for the consumer of the product or service. Their responsibilities also include product development, doing detailed market research, and recommending the best user experience for services or products.

The process by which design teams create products that give users relevant and meaningful experiences is known as user experience (UX) design. This includes features of branding, design, usability, and function, as well as the full process of obtaining and integrating the product as well.

What is UI design?

The user interface is referred to as UI. In a nutshell, it's an application's graphical framework. Transitions, interface animations, screen layouts, and any other items linked with it, for example, are included in the buttons that the user (like you and me) clicks on. To be more specific, both graphic and user interface designers belong to the same category. Designers must work with aesthetics to ensure that every portion of the visual element is cohesive both functionally and aesthetically. Recruiters always have a keen eye for UI/UX designers. Learn: What does a Recruiter Look like in a UI/UX Designer.

Now, as you have understood the difference between the UI/UX designers let’s focus on our next sub-topic.

What do UI/UX Designers do?

Let's consider a car, where the UI is the vehicle's color and design. On the other hand, the user experience refers to how a car travels, shifts gears, or protects you in an accident. Each page graphically presents the journey, according to a user interface designer. A UX designer also ensures that the product or service the designer is using makes sense to the user, as well as creates a logical and uninterrupted path from one step to the next.

1. You have to work as a member of a product team.

2. You have to maintain an uninterrupted user experience, whether you are making a new product or updating an existing product.

3. Along with this you will also have to see that the product or the service which you are working for meets all the needs of the business, make sure that it checks out all the vision of the CEO.

4. Check whether the service or the product can increase the revenue and attract new and loyal customers.

Skills you Need to Become a UI/UX Designer

We have written a few skill-sets where you can understand the requirements for the job role:

1. You must be able to properly analyze data and conduct research, as well as facilitate and implement it (UX)

2. Develop a passion or flair with palettes, as well as a thorough understanding of composition and graphic design. (UI)

3. Designing an interface with its own brightness and personality also necessitates typographic and branding expertise.

4. A poor designer will think about how a user acts, while a good designer will think about how the user thinks. If you want to be a successful UX designer, though, make sure you know how a user might feel about a product or service.

What to do to Get into This Position?
